The Process of an Epoxy Project
We strive to ensure every aspect of the construction process is as easy and headache free to our customers. Therfore, upon our initial call for your epoxy project we will do our due diligence to ask you a series of questions. Above all, making sure that we are the right fit for your epoxy project.
What is the existing material of your countertops?
What colors and attributes are you expecting of your new epoxy countertops?
Are you trying to mimic a natural stone, and if so, what is the color or name of that stone?
After that, will schedule an appointment to meet you at your home or business and discuss your project and take measurements. From there we will provide you a proposal within 24 hours. If you decide to work with us, we will generate a CSLB approved home-improvement contract and request signatures. 10% down payment to secure an install date will be requested at that time. Trust Company is licensed, bonded and insured in California for the last 20 years.
Epoxy Construction Process
Many times, we can apply your new epoxy countertops over the existing countertop. If this is the case on day one, we will prep the existing surface and apply a base color coat . If time permits we will apply what we call the artistic coat (where the magic is done). On day two we will apply the flood coat (adds depth and another layer of protection and beauty), clean up and review with you the do’s and don’ts of your new epoxy product.
In a small amount of cases we cannot install the epoxy over the existing countertop. If this is the case on day one, we will demo the existing countertops, install the subsurface and apply a base color coat. If time permits, we will apply the artistic coat. On day two we may have to apply the artistic coat and the flood coat if conditions are optimum. Temperature is usually the biggest factor. In extreme cases we need to return on day three and apply the flood coat. In any case we are complete with the project no later than day three.
One of the biggest factors in any project is to ensure that we meet your expectations upon completion of the project. Epoxy is an art just like the Mona Lisa and The Starry Night painted by Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh. The only difference between these two incredible artists was their minds and artistic hands acted together as one. In our case you are the mind and we are the artistic hands. There are thousands of color’s and applications in the epoxy process.
The Benefits of Epoxy
The biggest benefit of epoxy is that we do not extract slabs of stone from a quarry, leaving no impact on the Earth’s surface. Our epoxy does not release any radon gas (some natural stones do). In other words, we are not limited by stone availability, slab size or even price increases because the look of the stone is exotic or has certain veins or mineral effects. We can mimick all of these effects or even enhance them to complement a kitchen layout. Therefore allowing for a more versatile and dynamic element to any design.
Backsplashes or vertical elements can be bookmatched. Book matching is the practice of matching two (or more) wood or stone surfaces, so that two adjoining surfaces mirror each other, giving the impression of an opened book. Therefore, Bookmatching with epoxy is very easily done and cost effective. Doing this with a natural stone may be impossible or very costly.
Epoxy is a Superior Product
Some of the other exceptional benefits of epoxy are with the quick installation time. Homeowners will not be without a kitchen or bathroom for weeks at a time. Epoxy is 100% nonporous and never needs to be resealed. The epoxy is food safe and does not promote the growth of bacteria. It is impact, scratch and heat resistant up to 475°. Our epoxy is environmentally friendly and is qualified as a green building material. 100% UV resistant. As with all countertop services there is a possibility to cause damage. 99% of the time any damage that occurs to your epoxy countertop it can be repaired.
We have tested many products on the market and found that the material we use out lasts all of its competitors.
Our product is very economical and budget friendly, it is a great product for any home or business. Pricing ranges anywhere from $40 per square foot and reach up to $75 per square foot. These numbers are based on an average and every project is different in size and style.
Epoxy vs. other materials
Other materials are much higher in price: Granite, marble or quartz can range from $75-$180 per sq. ft., Sile stone, corian and other “man made stone” can range from $60-$130.
In conclusion, you can see epoxy is becoming is the leading material for countertops, shower surrounds, flooring or any other area you can imagine.
